Tech621 mentors

And the social media mentoring is a go! Below are the mentor-mentee pairs.

So, what do you do as a mentor?

It would be wonderful if you:

  • comment on the student’s blog posts now and again
  • provide advice about blogging & twittering
  • be there for the student, so he/she knows it’s OK to ask questions.

What do you do as a student?

  • ask questions 🙂
  • engage your mentor in conversation, and through that, meet new people

Thank you so much to the kind people who are helping students out!

A big thank you to @horovice, who also volunteered to mentor a student.

  1. Fantastic! Can’t wait – thanks again for this great honor! 🙂

  2. Steve Radick says:

Thank YOU Mihaela for the opportunity to work with some of your outstanding students! With you guiding them, I’m sure that we’ll be seeing these names and Twitter handles soon keynoting conferences, and effecting real change in the industry. As I mentioned in this blog post (http://steveradick.com/2009/08/02/social-media-and-the-next-generation/), I get a lot of satisfaction out of working with college students and junior employees because that’s where a lot of the innovation lies. Give me a bright, passionate, green employee that will take some risks over a more experienced, consistently good but not great person any day. I’m looking forward to working with, and learning from, Andrew and working with your students to create a student chapter of the Social Media Education Connection there at Purdue.

  3. […] I’m really excited to announce that I was selected to be part of a new social media mentoring program at Purdue University (@mindofandre is my Twitter tag)! Thanks to the wonderful Dr. Mihaela Vorvoreanu, a professor […]
