0wned = “Getting 0wned, 0wnd, or 0wnzd means getting your arse severely beaten, either mentally, physically, emotionally or other. A word often used by those who deem themselves to be of the l33t status.”

JP Morgan Chase thought they’d do the equivalent of a Reddit AMA (ask me anything) on Twitter. It didn’t go so well.

What does this teach you about online dialogue, marketing & pr, self-organization, and online crowds? What do you take away from this story?

I have worked for JP Morgan Chase for two summers now and an Internship. I worked at the main tech hub in Columbus Ohio. This is really crazy that this happened, but honestly it should have been expected.

JPMC just added a new “TweetHub” where a team of people help users that tweet to @Chase around the clock. In the main building outside Starbucks you can watch all these tweets come in, some positive, most negative. You can see the negative to positive ratio and distributions of all the information that is collected. Its actually rather quite interesting, and its not censored so you see some funny posts.
